SugarHouse Doubles Annual Contribution

Leading up to the unveiling of its $164 million expansion, SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia contributed $1 million—twice its usual annual donation—to the Penn Treaty Special Services District, which assists organizations in neighborhoods surrounding the casino. Since opening in 2010, SugarHouse has contributed $3.6 million to the PTSSD.

SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia announced it will contribute million to the Penn Treaty Special Services District—double the usual amount of its annual contribution. The recent donation brings SugarHouse’s total contributions to PTSSD to .6 million since the casino opened in 2010. PTSSD uses the funds to assist a wide range of organizations in the neighborhoods surrounding the casino.

PTSSD Board Chairman Rick Angeli said, “We are grateful to receive this continued and increased support from SugarHouse. The larger contribution has allowed the PTSSD to advance operations and evolve our grant-making to include more projects that will continue to improve these neighborhoods.”

SugarHouse Casino General Manager Wendy Hamilton commented, “We are proud to partner with the PTSSD in its mission to make a positive impact on the communities surrounding SugarHouse. By contributing additional funds to this great organization, SugarHouse can support more extensive community-based projects annually and show our support of this great neighborhood, of which we are so glad to be a part.”

Later this year SugarHouse will unveil its $164 million expansion, including increasing the property from 108,000 square feet to 260,000 square feet and adding a 600,000 square foot parking garage. The expanded gaming floor will offer 44 additional table games, 289 more slots and 28 new poker tables. Non-gaming amenities will include restaurants and a 30,000 square foot event space. The project will add 500 new jobs.
