SugarHouse Launches Poker Night in America Room

SugarHouse Casino dedicated its “Poker Night in America Poker Room, with 28 tables and 252 seats in the branded 6,000-square-foot space.

Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino SugarHouse Casino last week dedicated its new “Poker Night in America Poker Room” last week in a ceremony attended by Philadelphia icons Dick Vermeil and Vince Papale—the real-life principals portrayed in the movie Invincible—along with poker pro Matt Glantz.

The new 6,000-square-foot poker room, which includes 28 tables with a total of 252 seats, is the first in the nation to carry the brand of the popular national cable TV poker series Poker Night in America (PNIA).

“Being the first-ever Poker Night in America Poker Room is a big honor for the SugarHouse team,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “In addition to continuing our high-caliber tournaments, poker fans will get to see some of the game’s best players here in Philadelphia.”

The ceremony last week also kicked off the inaugural “SugarHouse Poker Night Classic,” which will feature 35 tournaments over 20 days running from March 23 through April 11. The PNIA television production team will be at SugarHouse to live-stream the main event final table on April 11. PNIA will also record high-stakes cash game action with a lineup featuring Philadelphia’s own Joe McKeehen, the current World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion.

The new poker room features state-of-the-art technology, including built-in smartphone charging stations for all 252 seats.

Special events at the dedication included a meet-and-greet with Vermeil and Papale, who also joined players for pictures. The first 100 poker players who registered for the first SugarHouse Poker Night Classic event between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on March 23 got a welcome gift to commemorate the room’s dedication.

The SugarHouse Poker Night Classic was designed by Philadelphia poker pro Glantz, who recently started working with Rush Street Gaming, the casino’s parent company. Glantz, a resident of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, is well-known in the poker industry and, in addition to helping develop Rush Street’s poker rooms, is the producer and event manager for Rush Street Productions, owners of the PNIA television series.

“All of the multi-day events at SugarHouse will feature the fantastic tournament structures I am known for,” said Glantz. “I am so excited to take this beautiful, new room to the next level.”
