Swedish Government Proposes Sjöstedt as New Svenska Spel Chair

Sweden’s government has proposed the appointment of Eva-Lotta Sjöstedt as the new chair of state-owned gambling operator Svenska Spel.

Swedish Government Proposes Sjöstedt as New Svenska Spel Chair

As announced yesterday (March 19), Sjöstedt would become chair after Svenska Spel hosts its annual general meeting on April 24. Her appointment remains subject to approval at the AGM.

A hugely experienced professional, Sjöstedt is currently serving on the board at three other businesses. These include Alliance Pharmaceuticals, telecommunications provider Elisa, and food wholesaler Metro AG.

Aside from this, Sjöstedt is the founder of Kuno Leadership Community, which works across a range of industries. She was also previously CEO of Scandinavian-facing luxury brand Georg Jensen.

In addition, earlier in her career, Sjöstedt served in several roles within IKEA Group. During her 10 years with the business, she worked in management positions in Sweden, Japan and the Netherlands.

Svenska Spel Considers Other New Board Appointments

Alongside Sjöstedt, the government has also proposed electing two other new members to the Svenska Spel board.

Both Anna Gagner-Geeber and Johan Wilsby have been put forward as candidates. Again, their appointments remain subject to approval at the AGM.

Meanwhile, Eivor Andersson, Stefan Berg, Gunilla Herlitzm Nyamko Sabuni and Anne Årneby have all been nominated for re-election.

The proposed board changes come after Svenska Spel last week also appointed a new chief financial officer. Amäni Radwan will take on the role effective in July of this year.

Radwan, who will also join the operator’s management team, is currently the head of group finance at Svenska Spel.
