Talking Stick Closed Through September

Due to severe damage from a monsoon storm on August 11, the Talking Stick Resort Hotel and Casino in Phoenix will remain closed at least through September. In a statement, resort officials said, “Ongoing repairs to the electrical power system at Talking Stick Resort will require further closure of the property through the month of September. Employees and outside personnel continue work around the clock to restore power.”

The storm caused serious damage when water flowed into the area housing the main and backup generators. The administrative offices, meeting room and cafe on the lower levels also were damaged.

The Talking Stick Golf Club’s North Course was damaged in the storm but has been repaired and reopened.

The closure has given Talking Stick’s owners an opportunity to update some areas of the resort and casino that haven’t changed since the property opened in 2010.

The resort postponed numerous scheduled events and moved others to its sister property, Casino Arizona. Guests with reservations were contacted were offered an opportunity to reschedule or move to a nearby hotel.

“Management continues to assist and support employees as we collectively work toward restoring operations. In the interim, we want to express our gratitude for the patience demonstrated throughout this time and the hard work continually done on our behalf,” property management said in the statement.
