Team Named to Conduct Gaming Study for Japanese Government

The Innovation Group has been named as industry advisor for the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan to complete a comprehensive research study conducted by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

The Innovation Group last week announced that it has been selected as an industry advisor for the project team chosen by the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan to complete a comprehensive research study corresponding to the proposed integrated resort legislation. The team, led by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, was selected to provide research to the senior Japanese cabinet government officials for its consideration and deliberation of a new bill to authorize integrated casino resorts in Japan. The Innovation Group says it was chosen because of its broad international experiences relating to integrated casino resorts, which can be applied to the unique circumstances in Japan.

The scope of the total project includes research relating to the following areas:

• Expert research and advice regarding the implementation of gaming regulations

• Information about integrated resort development protocol

• Best practices from similar and competing jurisdictions

• Background on successful problem gaming programs

• Detailed approaches to address anti-money laundering

• Summary of economic and fiscal impacts from similar and competing jurisdictions.

“We are very honored to be chosen as the industry advisor for this team and we look forward to providing our services to support the needs of the cabinet secretary,” stated David Rittvo, executive vice president of Innovation International.

“We are also excited to be working once again with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a firm that has been in the forefront of providing research for both Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Japanese Diet. The outcome of this research report will help to shape the proposed legislation that we hope will be passed this year,” said

Michael Soll, president of the Innovation Group.

“This project in Japan gives the Innovation Group an opportunity to continue recent efforts to allow for Integrated Casino Resorts to be implemented in the Pacific Rim, including Macau, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, Vladivostok, Saipan, Laos, Korea and Taiwan,” said Steven Rittvo, chairman.

The Japanese government has been considering the implementation of integrated casino resorts for a number of years, and much more intensely over the last year. This present project, however, is a milestone since it is the last major effort sponsored by the cabinet.
