Third PA Truck Stop Live with VGTs

Pennsylvania has opened its third truck stop video gaming terminal lounge under the state’s 2017 gaming expansion law, at the Snow Shoe Travel Plaza in Centre County.

Pennsylvania’s third truck stop gaming lounge opened last week at the Snow Shoe Travel Plaza in Centre County. Under the state’s 2017 gaming expansion law, qualifying truck stops are permitted to add up to five video gaming terminals, monitored by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

“There are a lot of people who are excited,” Snow Show owner Joe Grewal told the Centre Daily Times. “Some (players) are coming on a daily basis, and the truckers, when they take a break, it’s entertainment for them.”

Grewal commented that the application process for the five VGTs was rigorous, with Gaming Control Board agents visiting to view fuel invoices to verify the required average sales of 50,000 gallons of diesel fuel or more. Facilities must also have at least 20 parking spaces for commercial vehicles, a convenience store, and showers and other facilities for truckers.

“I think scanning all of our fuel invoices for a whole year was very annoying,” Kiran Grewal, the owner’s daughter, told the newspaper, adding that she and her parents had to be fingerprinted and undergo background checks before receiving their VGT license.
