In Oregon, the tribal council of the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians announced it recently terminated three executives at the Three Rivers Casino Resort: Chief Operating Officer Michael Rose, Assistant General Manager Bob Garcia and Chief Finance Officer Jim Herman. In a statement, the council said, “The tribal council earlier this summer determined it was time to change the management team. The change in direction, however, is in no way associated with any security matter.”
Rose joined Three Rivers in April 2004. He also served as general manager at the Key Largo Casino and Hotel, owned by President Donald Trump. Garcia, who has been associated with the Confederated Tribes since 2001, has served as tribal council chairman and assistant general manager for Three Rivers.
Tribal officials announced Jerry West will take over as chief executive officer. A casino industry veteran since 1992, West has worked at Harrah’s, Hard Rock and Oregon’s Spirit Mountain Resort, among other gambling operations. Recently he served as vice president of gaming operations at the Native American-owned Player Performance Group.
“As the new CEO, West brings 25 years of experience in training and mentoring to thousands of employees in large gaming operations. He also has a proven record with casino expansions, renovations and delivering results within time limits and budget constraints,” the statement said.
Three Rivers operates a casino resort in Florence and a casino-only facility in Coos Bay.
