Eldorado Resorts Inc., owners of seven casino resorts in Reno, Nevada, Shreveport, Louisiana, Chester, West Virginia, Columbus, Ohio and Erie, Pennsylvania, recently added Phil Fortino as senior vice president of human resources, Shawn Rorick as vice president of digital marketing and eCommerce and Stephen Geerling as vice president of tax.
Fortino, a certified human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality and gaming industries, came to Eldorado Resorts from Affinity Gaming. There he restructured human resources by evaluating and refreshing training programs, and developing a guest training module, “Genuine Service,” considered by management to be the company’s best training program since it began in 2005. Fortino also developed “Genuine Leadership,” focusing on guest service and employee development.
Fortino started his gaming career in Atlantic City, and served regional director of human resources for Hilton in 1989 before returning to the casino industry as senior vice president of human resources for Empress Gaming in 1995. He also has worked at Tropicana Entertainment, Resorts International and Hyatt Gaming. He received a bachelor of science degree from Juniata College in Pennsylvania.
Digital media professional Rorick brings to Eldorado Resorts more than 17 years of hands-on experience in web development, interactive media planning and direct marketing execution. He has trained, coached and educated many digital media professionals and has been a sought-after consultant to numerous companies in multiple industries. Most recently he served as executive director of interactive marketing and operations for Baha Mar LTD.
Rorick also has worked as director of interactive marketing for Cox Communications, MGM Resorts International, Wynn Resorts and Cirque du Soleil. A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Rorick founded the Las Vegas Interactive Marketing Association and Interactive Marketing Association Alliance, created the Digital World Expo and wrote the book Emerging Marketer.
With more than 30 years of tax experience, Geerling is a certified public accountant and has served in head-of-tax roles at IGT and Bally. He will oversee ERI tax compliance, planning and accounting for income taxes, working closely with corporate and property management on all federal, state and local income, property, sales, use and other tax matters.
A graduate of Quincy University, Geerling has led high-performing tax functions in various industries. He has earned a reputation for making underperforming tax departments successful by recruiting and developing outstanding team members. Geerling also has managed three separate IRS audits over 12 years, including two that went to appeals, and played a key role in managing acquisition and divestiture.
