Phase I opened in 2013
Officials in Thua Thien-Hue Province in Vietnam are seeking government approval to expand the Laguna Lang Co. complex and increase the capital investment from US$875 million to $2 billion. The resort’s $200 million Phase I became operational in 2013.
The 280-hectare (692-acre) project, designed to serve up to 400,000 visitors a year, includes resorts, spas, a 229-room Angsana Hotel, restaurants and retail shops, an 18-hole golf course and a 57-villa Banyan Tree resort as well as a conference center, reported the Asia Gaming Brief. If approved, the expanded project could mean some $245 million annually to the local budget starting in 2021.
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have already approved the plan, reported the VietNam News outlet. The casino would be added in Phases II, III and IV of the project, with capital of almost $250 million on a 2.6-hectare tract.
