Opening date scheduled for 2020
In Phase II of its development, the Tigre de Cristal casino resort in the Russian Far East will add an indoor beach club and upscale shopping center, according to the Primorsky Krai Development Corp., the government-owned company overseeing the Primorye Integrated Entertainment Zone located 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the Pacific port city of Vladivostok.
Tigre de Cristal opened in October 2015. It is the only operating casino property in the casino zone, but will eventually be joined by NagaCorp Ltd.’s Naga Vladivostok and the $900 million Selena World Resort and Casino, a project planned by Russia’s Diamond Fortune Holdings. According to CalvinAyre.com, 118 acres are still available for development in the zone, known as PIER.
Tigre’s indoor beach club will feature swimming pools, artificial beaches and other recreational facilities, stated a news release.
Hong Kong-listed Summit Ascent Holdings Ltd., the resort’s lead developer, said it is currently “finalizing design and financing options so that we can commence construction in the spring of 2019.” Phase II is set to open in the second half of 2020, pushed back from 2019, reported GGRAsia.
“Assuming that our own Phase II project and the other future operators’ development plans remain on track, we may see the benefits of a ‘cluster’ effect as early as 2021,” Summit Ascent added in its interim report.
Phase II “will be geared to appeal to the foreign mass and rolling chip customer with extensive dining, entertainment, and retail facilities anchored by a large premium outlet mall.”
