Tigre de Cristal, Summit Ascent Holdings’ casino in the Russian Far East, has paid almost half a billion rubles in taxes and payments to the government since it opened in October 2015, according to the Asia Gaming Brief.

The information came from the Primorye Territory Tourism Department, which said more than 190,000 guests have visited the hotel-casino compound since the beginning of 2016, with visitation averaging about 1,000 people per day between July and September.

Tigre de Cristal is the only casino now operating in the Primorye Integrated Entertainment Zone, a casino development zone 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the port city of Vladivostok, reported GGRAsia.

Of visitors to the casino in the third quarter, around 30 percent were foreigners, mainly from South Korea and China. The Primorsky Krai Administration also said that Tigre de Cristal paid almost RUB500 million (US$8 million) in taxes and other government fees during its first year.

A total of four gaming licenses have been awarded for the special economic zone, along with land grants totaling 1.4 million square meters (15.1 million square feet). Hong Kong-listed casino operator NagaCorp Ltd. is expected to be the next firm to open there.

Meanwhile, Phase II of Tigre de Cristal should begin development in the second half of 2017 and become operational in the first half of 2019, Summit Ascent has reported.
