While there has been no formal announcement, a company connected to Golden Nugget/Landry’s owner Tilman Fertitta last week filed an application with the Clark County Commission to build a casino hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. In June, a company called POLV LLC bought 6 acres of land at Harmon Ave. and Las Vegas Blvd. for $270 million. The property is across the Strip from Aria, the Cosmopolitan and the rest of the CityCenter development.

On October 19, the commission will consider the application, which calls for a 43-story, 2,420-room casino hotel, that includes meeting rooms, restaurants, meeting space, a wedding chapel, spa, auto showroom and a 2,500-seat theater.

Fertitta has long eyed a Strip property, but preferred to build new rather than buy. Fertitta, a cousin to the Fertitta’s that are principals in the locals casino company, Station Casinos, owns the Golden Nugget casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Biloxi, Mississippi; the Landry’s restaurant chain and the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

Should all the approvals be granted and construction commence on time, a March 2025 opening is envisioned.
