Tiverton Casino Begins Job Fairs

Twin River has promised that residents of Tiverton, Rhode Island will get a hiring preference for the $140 million casino it plans to open next year. It will begin holding job fairs for the locals in December.

Twin River Worldwide Holding will hold a series of job fairs beginning in December for the casino it plans to open in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The first two will be for residents of Tiverton only. Job fairs from nearby communities will happen in February, with open jobs beginning in April.

Patti Doyle, a spokeswoman, said some hires won’t have to wait until the casino opens in 2018, but could get training at the Twin River Lincoln. Hiring local was a commitment the company made when it was campaigning to persuade local voters to approve of the Tiverton casino, which will sit virtually astride the Rhode Island/ Massachusetts state line.

The $140 million casino will have 1,000 slots, 30 gaming tables, dining and an 84-room hotel. It will be about one quarter the size of the existing Lincoln casino that it will replace.

According to Twin River Chairman John E. Taylor “Our Tiverton workforce will total 550 – 600 employees and we’re determined to fulfill a campaign pledge to the local community by recruiting Tiverton residents whenever and wherever possible.”
