The U.S. director of Kambi, the global supplier that provides sports betting
technology for three Pennsylvania casinos, predicts that the state, now deploying mobile and online sports wagering, will soon surpass New Jersey in sports betting handle.
Kambi U.S. Director Max Bischel said at an industry panel last week that the state will surpass New Jersey as the U.S. leader in sports betting within a year.
Kambi provides the platform and technology for retail sportsbooks at Parx Casino and for Rush Street Gaming’s SugarHouse in Philadelphia and Rivers in Pittsburgh.
Speaking at a Las Vegas conference, Bischel said he saw the amount wagered online “grow exponentially” in the weeks since the state has implemented mobile wagering.
“You take the fifth largest state and allow them to bet online and it becomes a game-changer in some respect,” Bichsel said. “It’s a significant multiple of what we see at retail. It’s very exciting. The size of the market is dramatically larger than what some have expected.”
