A groundbreaking was held April 6 in Porterville, California for the relocated Eagle Mountain Casino (l.). The project, delayed for 20 years, includes a 250-room hotel and a casino on 40 acres.

The Tule River Tribe of Northern California April 6 held a groundbreaking for the new Eagle Mountain Casino that will be relocated to Porterville.

VIPs attending including city of Porterville officials, Indian Gaming Commission officials and tribal officials.

The tribe worked to relocate the casino for 20 years before finally obtaining permission in December from the Bureau of Indian Affairs to put land into trust at the 40-acre site. The tribe is looking at a 2022 opening for the facility.

The casino is projected to generate about $34.6 million in wages. It will include a 250-room hotel, 29,000 square foot convention space, dining, entertainment lounge and 1,700 seat entertainment center.
