Triple Crown Casinos recently announced plans to expand facilities at its Brass Ass Casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado. The $30-$40 million, 140,000 square foot project will add 150 new hotel rooms to the property’s current 59 rooms at the Midnight Rose Hotel Casino and JP McGills Hotel and Casino. It also will include an upscale rooftop restaurant, ballroom, fitness center, coffee shop, lounge and other amenities.
Chief Executive Officer Larry Hill assured the project will comply with the town’s historic preservation guidelines. “We are very excited to announce this bold expansion designed to offer an exceptional hospitality experience and differentiate us from our competitors while also retaining our unique historic legacy. We feel the additional guest rooms will help Cripple Creek take the next step in becoming more of an overnight destination for regional and tourist markets,” Hill said.
Hill added construction on the project, designed by OZ Architecture of Denver, will begin in spring 2019. It’s the first major expansion in Triple Crown Casinos’ 25 years of local ownership.
Triple Crown Casinos announced it will purchase the 53-room Gold Fever Inn in Cripple Creek to provide workforce housing. “With limited housing opportunities in our town, we have faced the challenge of acquiring and retaining quality employees. We see this acquisition as an ideal way to meet that challenge and provide affordable, comfortable and safe housing for our staff,” Hill said.
Triple Crown recently unsuccessfully challenged the city’s approval of Full House Resorts Inc.’s $70 million 150-room hotel, spa, parking garage, convention and entertainment space and an upscale restaurant at Bronco Billy’s casino and related properties. Construction will start early next year and be completed by early 2021.
Colorado Springs-based Century Casinos Inc. and American Gaming Group LLC, which owns the Wildwood Casino, also announced upcoming projects in Cripple Creek. Community Development Director Bill Gray said these major projects could add 500 new rooms. “This is very encouraging. This will be a big asset for the community,” Gray said.
