Trump Entertainment Settles Up With Online Gambling Partners

Trump Entertainment is close to settling with Betfair and Ultimate Gaming, its two former online gambling partners in New Jersey. Betfair now operates with the Golden Nugget, and Ultimate is out of business. The settlements give the company about $1.4 million.

Though their break-ups were abrupt, Trump Entertainment says it has reached settlements with its former online gaming partners in New Jersey.

The company was partnered with Betfair through the closed Trump Plaza and Ultimate Gaming through the Trump Taj Mahal. Online gaming sites in New Jersey must partner with Atlantic City casinos.

Trump Entertainment, which is in bankruptcy, filed court documents outlining the settlements.

The company’s settlement with Betfair states that the online company owns its customer data, and can use data it jointly owns with Trump Plaza for its own commercial purposes. Betfair will continue to hold a $700,000 unsecured claim against Trump Entertainment in its ongoing bankruptcy case.

Trump Entertainment said the settlements give it access to about $1.4 million it can use for expenses.

Billionaire investor Carl Icahn, who is Trump Entertainment’s main lender, has approved of the settlements, according to the Associated Press. Icahn could take over the company under a bankruptcy plan.

Betfair is now partnered with the Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City, while Ultimate Gaming has withdrawn from New Jersey.
