Trump Las Vegas Goes Union

More than 500 workers at the Trump Las Vegas hotel will have union representation via the Culinary and Bartenders Union. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) rejected the hotel’s challenge of results from a secret ballot held in December, in which workers voted in favor of union representation. Unless the NLRB reviews the matter, the decision is final.

The Culinary and Bartenders Union will represent more than 500 Trump International workers in Las Vegas.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in March rejected objections to results of a secret ballot vote done last December. Unless the NLRB chooses to review the matter, the union has the go-ahead to proceed with organizing workers and initiating contract talks.

The union will represent all full-time, part-time, and on-call workers in the hotel’s food and beverage, and housekeeping departments.

The hotel challenged the results, but the NLRB overturned the challenge after reviewing the December vote.

Union organizing efforts started in 2014, and workers claimed the hotel undertook a campaign to block organizing efforts, including employee intimidation and firing pro-union workers.

More than 50,000 casino, resort, and hotel workers in Las Vegas are represented by the union, which used Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy as a sounding board for raising awareness of organizing affronts at Trump Hotel Las Vegas.
