Truong Leaves Vietnam Lottery

The CEO of the Vietnam Lottery Co. Ltd. resigned October 1, reportedly for personal reasons. Tong Quoc Truong had been head of Vietlott since 2012, the year the company was founded.

Ton Quoc Troung, chief executive officer of the Vietnam Lottery Co. Ltd., also known as Vietlott, resigned effective October 1, the Ministry of Finance has disclosed.

The ministry tapped Deputy Nguyen Thanh Dam to serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement can be found.

Truong had been CEO of the U.S.-style lottery concern since 2012, the year the company was founded, reported Yogonet.com. Prior to that he was chief investment officer of state-owned fuel company PetroVietnam.

In 2016, Vietlott signed an 18-year pact with Malaysian conglomerate Berjaya to introduce computerized lottery games. The firm’s presence in the country has soared thanks to popular American-style lottery games like Mega 6/45, as well as products such as Max 4D and Power 6/55.

In the first half of 2017, Vietlott posted total profits of nearly VND133 billion (US$5.85 million).
