Twin River Casino Exec Indicted in Kickback Scheme

Michael Barlow, an executive with Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc., has been indicted on 30 felony counts including bribery, tax evasion and kickbacks. He has pleaded not guilty.

An executive of Rhode Island’s Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc., Michael Barlow, has been indicted by a grand jury on 30 felony counts that include bribery, tax evasion and kickbacks. Also indicted were a casino vendor and the vendor’s business associate.

Barlow pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last week.

Twin River Management Group’s spokeswoman, Patti Doyle, said the group had cooperated fully with the prosecutors and noted that one of those indicted no longer works for the company.

The prosecution alleges that in 2012 Barlow, who is senior vice president of operations for Twin River, accepted payments from a vendor, Yehuda Amar, in return for obtaining subleases with several food court as well as several business contracts. This involved residential and commercial properties in New London, Connecticut.

Amar has also pleaded not guilty in the arraignment. Amar’s business associate, Jill Feldman, was indicted for tax evasion.

Twin River Worldwide Holdings operates casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton, Rhode Island.
