Casino Emperor Palace and Waldo Casino, two satellite casinos located in Macau, will close and cease operations before the end of October.
SJM Resorts-run Emperor Palace is scheduled to shut its doors on October 30. This has been confirmed in a statement issued by the operator.
All gaming tables and gaming machines at the site will be redeployed to other casinos run by SJM. Customers holding chips, deposits, or cash rebates at Emperor Palace can claim these at the operator’s other casinos.
In addition, all local staff employed at the venue will remain employed and be reassigned to other casinos.
“SJM will carry out all necessary arrangements in accordance with legal requirements to ensure an orderly transition,” SJM said. “As always, the company remains committed to fulfilling its corporate responsibilities and contributing to the stable development of Macau’s gaming sector in partnership with the local community.”
Waldo Casino also Set to Close in Macau
Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that Waldo Casino will shut this week. The venue, the sole satellite casino of Galaxy Entertainment Group that is operated under the concession of its subsidiary Galaxy Casino Company, will close on October 31.
In a statement seen by Macau Business, Galaxy said the decision was made due to “business considerations”. The Macau government is reported to have approved the closure.
Like SJM, Galaxy committed to reassigning workers to other casinos or non-gaming roles in its estate. Customers holding Waldo Casino chips can redeem these at other Galaxy venues, including Galaxy Macau Casino and StarWorld Casino.
In addition, gaming tables at Waldo Casino will be reallocated to other Galaxy properties.
