SLS Las Vegas has hired two Las Vegas Strip veterans to head its casino and food and beverage operations.

Derek Amundson was appointed vice president of casino operations and Anthony Olheiser was named vice president of food and beverage.

Amundson most recently served as vice president of table games at Excalibur with responsibilities that included oversight of the race and sports book, keno and the poker room. A University of Nevada, Las Vegas graduate and long-time member of Excalibur’s management, he is a recipient of MGM Resorts International’s “President’s Leadership Award”.

Olheiser, most recently executive director for Park MGM, began his career in gaming as operations manager of the Ultra Lounge at THEhotel (now the Delano) at Mandalay Bay. He went on to open Tao Nightclub and Asian Bistro at The Venetian before returning to MGM as nightclub general manager for MGM Grand, then director of nightlife and director of entertainment and development.

He later supervised the repositioning of food and beverage for the Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles and JW Marriott Los Angeles at LA Live before returning again to MGM as executive director of brand activation for Monte Carlo, now Park MGM.

“Derek and Anthony’s expertise and leadership will prove invaluable as we move this property forward,” said Paul Hobson, senior vice president and general manager for SLS Las Vegas. “They are key pieces in a team of passionate, enthusiastic professionals who are excited to fulfill the potential of this iconic Las Vegas resort.”
