The U.K. Gambling Commission (UKGC) has lifted a suspension of the football predictions app LEBOM one week after the suspension was announced, after it was confirmed that LEBOM took “remedial action.”
LEBOM’s license had been suspended for failing to integrate GAMSTOP, a self-exclusion program, into its systems, as required by its license since 2020.
At the time UKGC Executive of Operations Kay Roberts commented, “GAMSTOP provides a crucial service for people who feel they are suffering gambling harm,” adding, “It is simply unacceptable for any online operator to fail to integrate with the scheme.”
The commission could continue its review of LEBOM’s license under the 2005 Gambling Act, as it stated when it revoked the license, but it has not stated whether it will do so.
During the suspension, the company was banned from interacting with its customers or taking wagers. Customers were allowed to withdraw funds from their accounts.
Earlier this year, UKGC CEO Andrew Rhodes said the commission “would no longer tolerate repeat offenders” of social responsibility and anti-money laundering standards.
The commission is seen to be increasingly strict about such enforcements—including imposing heavy fines— leading up to the possible release of the Gambling Act white paper review.
