U.S. sports betting handle eclipsed the $3 billion mark in October.
Sports betting in Colorado accounted for $210.7 million in handle, based on a state report released November 30. Add that in and the U.S. total tops $2.82 billion.
Illinois need to generate $182.3 million to reach $3 billion. Since the state produced $305 million in bets in September, getting to $3 billion should be no problem when the state releases results later in December.
Of 15 jurisdictions which reported October figures, 13 set records.
New Jersey set the overall U.S. handle record at $803 million. Nevada, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Colorado make up the remaining top five.
Along with record handle in Colorado, the market hit record sports betting revenue as well with $17.4 million, according to Legal Sports Report.
Football proved to lead the market in terms of handle, knocking baseball out of the top spot. NFL betting accounted for $68 million in bets, up from $38.6 million in September. Baseball betting, meanwhile, fell to $23 million last month from $47.1 million.
