UKGC Extends B2B Licensing Deadline

The U.K. Gambling Commission has extended the licensing deadline for software providers to give iGaming companies more time to comply with upcoming gaming law changes.

The U.K. Gambling Commission (UKGC) has extended the licensing deadline for software providers by two months, in order for iGaming technologies and services/provisions providers to comply with upcoming changes to U.K. gambling laws.

The UKGC has extended its licensing deadline from January 31 to March 31, 2015.  According to the commission, the extension gives technology and provisions providers time to decide whether to remain in the UK online gambling market.

New U.K. gambling laws will require both B2C and B2B operators to have U.K. licensing in order to provide betting and gaming services to Britons. However, the UKGC noted that B2B service providers may face a period of uncertainty with regards to U.K. licensing, since they would have to await their clients’ market decisions before obtaining a U.K. license.

The B2C operator deadline for U.K. online gambling licenses closed last week. Operators can still apply for licenses at a later date, but would be required to pull U.K.-facing products From October 1 until they are licensed.
