The Ukraine’s newly established Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries in Ukraine has denied a casino license to the Dnipro Hotel in Kyiv.
According to reports, the application included errors including an incorrect address and several inconsistencies in the hotel floor plan. The regulator must ensure the hotel has 300 square meters (3,230 square feet) for slot machines.
The hotel applied for a license in December, shortly after the commission was set up by the Ukrainian government. Last August, gambling in Ukraine was legalized. Since then, the commission has issued 18 licenses, including seven to high-end hotels in Kyiv.
According to CDC Gaming Reports, Dnipro hotel is owned by esports entrepreneur Alexander Kokhanovskyy, who paid $41 million for the property. Kokhanovskyy told the Kyiv Post the hotel will amend the application and resubmit it.
