Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s office, along with police, has targeted the East European country’s illegal websites. According to Yogonet, the authorities will include 2,500 illegal gambling platforms in the enforcement.

In addition, the prosecutor is acting on 450 suspected gambling offenses. Also 72 persons have been indicted so far. This compares to last year when the prosecutor reported on 169 registered illegal gaming offenses and 52 indictments against 97 persons.

Last year the government confiscated more than 7,000 pieces of equipment, including computers, and threatened suspension against 10 casinos.

The prosecutor is continuing investigations against an unnamed sanctioned legal entity allegedly controlled by Russian citizens suspected of conducting illegal gambling.

The prosecutor’s actions follow closely upon the adoption by parliament of Draft Law No 9256, which abolished KRAIL, Ukraine’s gambling regulator.
