Ukraine Responsible Gaming Regs Restrict Bonuses

New responsible gaming regulations in the Ukraine will ban bonuses that meant to keep gamblers playing after losses. The country’s Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL), in publishing the Ukraine’s first responsible gaming rules, bans bonuses that are contingent on losses.

The new rules, released to the public last week, define responsible gaming requirements in the wake of a wide range of gambling that was legalized last year. Under the rules, operators are “obliged to refrain from providing players with any bonus payments, and/or providing goods or services through incentives, the provision of which is directly or indirectly due to the losses of a player in a certain game.”

This rule would mean operators would be unable to offer a bonus to players because they have lost money, or to make a bonus contingent on losses.

In other changes, players must now have the option to both self-exclude and set deposit limits, and be allowed to see how much time they have spent gambling. Operators must also train staff to recognize signs of problem gambling.
