VP: It’s a different poker experience
Ultimate Poker, run by Ultimate Gaming, is now providing the online poker room for the El Cortez resort in Downtown Las Vegas. The El Cortez has already begun marketing the games to players in its database, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
“We’re excited to join in this new venture and bring even more gaming options to guests of the property,” said Alexandra Epstein, El Cortez executive vice president. “By combining the online accessibility of Ultimate Poker with the classic Vegas feel of the El Cortez, we’re giving new and existing players a different way to experience the game of poker.”
Ultimate Poker recently launched a similar agreement with Reno-based Peppermill Resorts and provides the online poker room for Station Casinos, which like Ultimate Poker is owned by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta. The full network gives players the opportunity to deposit and cash out at more than 20 locations around the state.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, reported the Las Vegas Sun. The Fertitta brothers also own the mixed martial arts league Ultimate Fighting Championship.
In the past, El Cortez was renowned for its mobbed-up history, reported the Sun. It opened in 1941, and was bought in 1945 by organized-crime figures Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, Meyer Lansky, Gus Greenbaum and Moe Sedway.
Jackie Gaughan bought the property in 1963, then sold his stake in 2008 to his business partner Kenny Epstein. The resort was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in February 2013.
