Unibet Backs Away From Online Gambling Market in Russia

Unibet has announced it is temporarily not accepting new accounts from the Russian online gambling market.

Unibet has halted new player registrations in Russia and has stopped regional marketing of both Unibet.com and sister Maria.com, according to an advisory sent by the company to its affiliates and other partners.

The move is seen as a response to Russia’s increase in online gambling enforcement and blacklisting of unlicensed sites.

The advisory said the company intends to continue serving existing Russian gamblers and that its ban on new sign-ups will not include customers from other Russian-speaking nations.
