Unlicensed Maltese Operations Leave Dutch Market

Two Maltese gaming operators unlicensed to market their gaming services to Dutch citizens have pulled out of the market after being warned off by the Netherlands gaming authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA).

The regulator served the operators, LCS and MKC with cease and desist orders on September 5, and September 7, respectively.

KSA investigated the two operators and found that it was possible to create an account in the Netherlands and play on their various websites. KSA said in a statement, “That’s prohibited. Games of chance providers that do not have a license must ensure that their offer is not accessible from the Netherlands.”

Each operator could have been assessed a penalty of €28,000 per week or a maximum of €84,000.
