UNLV to Rodeo: Sign Here

Las Vegas Events pulled out all the stops this year to keep the popular National Finals Rodeo in Sin City for 10 more years. It expects to finalize the deal before the rodeo starts next month. The rodeo is expected to stay at the Thomas & Mack Center at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

For at least 10 years, the National Finals Rodeo will call UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center home, according to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.  Las Vegas Events President Pat Christenson says the popular event will not look to move to another location, such as the MGM Resorts International/AEG arena being built on the Strip.

A new agreement between the parties is expected to be signed before the 10-day rodeo begins in the first week of December, Christenson said.

The NFR, which has been called “the Super Bowl of rodeos,” celebrates its 30th year in Las Vegas this year, after which the current lease expires. Earlier in 2014, the rodeo considered pulling up stakes and leaving town. A number of cities lined up for the chance to serve as host, including Orlando, Dallas and Denver.
