The Bald Eagle Truck Stop in McElhattan, Pennsylvania became the second truck stop in the state to go live with a video gaming terminal lounge, under the 2017 law permitting qualifying truck-stop locations to add up to five VGTs.
“A lot of people seem to like it, It’s a nice way to get out of the house,” said Sunny Singh, owner of Bald Eagle Truck Stop, in an interview with the Williamsport Sun-Gazette. “We’ve gotten a lot of regulars to come in to play, but we’ve definitely seen some new faces, or faces that we don’t see very often, that are coming up more and more now that we have these games.
Singh added that he sees no reason for the state to make a move like Illinois did recently, upping the allowable VGTs in its truck stops, bars and taverns to six. “If we’re constantly full and we have people getting turned away or waiting for long periods of time to get a machine, then we would definitely wouldn’t be opposed to upping the amount that we have,” he said. “But if we always have one or two empty seats, there’s no reason to add more.”
