VICI Donates Former Kentucky Racetrack Land

Real estate investment trust VICI Properties recently donated the 58-acre site of the former Bluegrass Downs Racetrack in Paducah, Kentucky to McCracken County. The local government will use the land for soccer, baseball and softball fields to benefit the area’s 1,200 young people.

The venue was operated by Caesars Entertainment and closed in October 2019 when Caesars decided not to renew its Kentucky racing license.

VICI President John Payne said, “VICI is glad to be able to make this donation, which will directly benefit the communities in Paducah and McCracken County.”

McCracken County Judge-Executive Craig Clymer added, “The location is perfect for our needs. For decades, kids have been playing soccer at the old landfill site. This gives us the opportunity to dramatically improve our situation. I wish to thank VICI for its generous contribution.”
