Vietnam Continues Online Gambling Crackdown

Vietnamese authorities have charged 28 people suspected of involvement in a $9.1 million online gambling ring, according to Thanh Nien News.

Vietnamese authorities are continuing a crackdown on a suspected .1 million online gambling ring and have charged 28 suspects.

According to Thanh Nien News, Ho Chi Minh City resident Pham Huy Toan (38) is suspected of facilitating the ring while the other 27 will appear in court on various gambling charges.

Toan allegedly received about $13.3 million in wagers from local bettors which he channeled through 58 different bank accounts before placing bets with an unidentified UK-based gaming website.

Locals bettors allegedly included government officials and students and Toan was reportedly paid between March 2013 and July 2014 for his role as middleman.
