Lawmaker: Plan needs more perks

The prime minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Tan Dung, has approved a $1 billion resort to be developed in the northern port city of Hai Phong, reports the Vietnam News.

Hai Phong Chairman Le Van Thanh said the development will increase tourism to the city, but he added that it needs more luxury amenities, such as a marina, dock, five-star hotel, a casino and a cable car system.

As currently planned, the island will be developed as an “ecological zone” with residential villas, a 36-hole golf course and amusement parks on 872 hectares (2,154 acres) in the districts of Thuy Nguyen and Hai An, according to the Asia Gaming Brief.
