Vietnam OKs $500M Racetrack

Officials in Hanoi have approved a US$500 million horse track and entertainment facility in the Vietnamese capital city. The project is a long time coming; it was first OK’d in the late 1990s.

The Hanoi government has approved a US$500 million horse racing and entertainment center of as part of the city’s 2020 economic development plan, reports Inside Asian Gaming.

The facility, to be built on agricultural land in Soc San near the Vietnamese capital, was first OK’d in 1999, but was delayed until 2017, when the country legalized sports betting. The VnExpress reports that foreign firms are also looking to invest in horse racing facilities in Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc and Ho Chi Minh City.
