Washington Casino Opens $60 Million Expansion

Washington State’s Angel of the Winds Casino in Arlington, owned and operated by the Stillaguamish Tribe, has opened Phase I of its $60 million 300,000-square-foot expansion after 18 months of construction work.

The 320-member tribe opened the casino in 2004 and added a hotel in 2015. The 1,000 employees are expected to be joined by up to 200 following the expansion.

The first phase added more slot machines and gaming tables, a high-end restaurant, expanded buffet, new bowling alley, concert venue and a 575-space parking structure. A grand opening celebration will be held October 24.

The larger gaming space and Gateway Bar opened first, then the Strikerz Bowling, All Things Sports and the Rivers Run Event Center.

Assistant General Manager Jeff Wheatley said in a press release that much of the planning for the expansion came after listening to what guests said they wanted.

The Strikerz Bowling alley is the first to open for miles around in decades. It has 16 lanes for everyone and four that can be reserved for corporate events.

The event center can be divided into three sections for various functions and gatherings. At All Things Sports, players can enjoy virtual golf, virtual baseball, football, bocce, lacrosse and zombie dodgeball.

Three food and beverage venues are expected to open in the next few weeks, including an Asian restaurant, Jade Fusion, Gravity Bar, Riverside Buffet, and soon to follow the Whiskey Prime Steakhouse.
