Washington State gaming officials and the Kalispel Tribe have reached an accord to allow the tribe to offer sports betting at its Northern Quest Resort.
A spokesman for the tribe called it the most significant development since the tribe first opened its casino in 1998. Kevin Zenishek, executive director of casino operations told the Spokane Spokesman-Review: “This is pretty monumental. This is a big deal.”
The Washington legislature approved House Bill 2638 that allowed the state’s tribes to amend their tribal state gaming compacts to offer sports betting. Each compact must be approved by the state and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Zenishek said he hoped the tribe would be able to offer sports betting at the Kalispel Casino by the start of NFL season.
