The Spokane Tribe of Washington state is contemplating what improvements to make to its recently opened Chewelah Casino, such as a hotel. It has put out a request for proposals with a September 28 deadline.
Tribal Chairman Carol Evans told the Chewelah city council several weeks ago “We are hoping that this will be a team effort, that we will work with the developer to provide a beautiful hotel for this area. We know it’s needed.”
The tribe has 160 acres on which to build, and has plans for a new casino, gas station, RV park and convenience store. All are included in the RFP.
The tribe is simultaneous pursuing another project, transforming its seasonal Two Rivers Casino into a largely, year round resort near where the Spokane and Columbia Rivers meet.
