The recent reversal of a 2011 opinion from the Department of Justice that paved the way for states to begin online lotteries and casino gambling has thrown the industry into mass confusion. The new ruling from U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein (l.) could jeopardize any type of online betting where information is exchanged online across state lines. But some states are moving forward. Gaming regulators in Pennsylvania say the reinterpretation of the federal Wire Act by the U.S. Department of Justice will not affect its rollout of online gaming, which will be completely intrastate.
