Elizabeth Wester has been promoted to vice president of government relations at Churchill Downs Incorporated in Louisville, Kentucky. She brings more than a decade of extensive experience in government
relations to her new position, in which she will be responsible for developing and implementing CDI’s political and legislative strategies. Wester joined CDI in April 2012 as senior director of government relations.
Previously, for five years she was an associate at Floridian Partners LLC, in Tallahassee, Florida where she focused on state legislative advocacy for many clients. Before that, Wester served as vice president of government affairs for the Florida Bankers Association.
CDI Chief Executive Officer William Carstanjen said, “During her tenure with CDI, Elizabeth has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to lead the company’s multi-state and federal legislative advocacy and we are pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion.”
A native of Tallahassee, Wester earned a bachelor of arts degree
in political science and graduated with honors in history from Rhodes
College in Memphis, Tennessee.
