Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino, owned by the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona, plans to open a $143 million expansion later in 2021.
The 11-story hotel tower will add 205 rooms, bringing the resort’s total to 447. A rooftop restaurant and 12,000 square feet of meeting space are also planned.
Gila River Hotels & Casinos CEO Kenneth Manuel commented, “This expansion is a major investment in the Gila River Indian Community and symbolic of a new chapter in our history. It reflects our commitment to be a leader in the gaming and hospitality industry through enhanced experiences and amenities, and we look forward to seeing the continued representation of our community’s culture in the expansion project.”
The casino estimates that 600 new jobs will be added in the hotel, events and food and beverage departments.
The expansion will position the tribe to be able to take advantage of new tribal gaming compacts that have been negotiated by Governor Doug Ducey and Arizona’s gaming tribes. The amendments will allow the tribes and sports teams to offer sports gaming, and for additional tribal casinos, and additional games, such as baccarat and craps.
