Non-working elevators, faulty switches
The 13 Hotel in Macau has been re-inspected by the Macau Government Tourism Office in advance of a planned grand opening in March 2019. Insert eye-rolls here, as the deluxe hotel has been in the planning stages since 2012, and has announced several opening dates that then were pushed back—the most recent dates were June 30 and August 31.
The most recent holdup occurred when the hotel failed its first MTGO inspection. The hotel that once planned to offer custom Rolls Royces in “Stephen red” (for former owner Stephen Hung) had faulty elevators and problems with electric switches, TVs and so on.
If and when it opens, the hotel will cover a gross floor area of approximately 87,800 square meters (almost 950,000 square feet) and offer approximately 200 duplex suites and villas, including a sprawling royal villa that covers 1,843 square meters (20,000 square feet). The property will also offer a L’Ambroisie in Paris restaurant branch with some 100 seats. A casino in the property is expected to include 66 gaming tables.
“To enhance the competitiveness of the 13 Hotel and to cater for the increasing sophisticated needs of the target customers, additional time will be spent on the preparation works for the hotel opening,” announced the South Shore Group, which is now developing the property.
