Win-River Renews Casino Moving Project

The Redding Rancheria of Redding, California has renewed plans to relocate the Win-River resort casino. It will move closer to Interstate 5 and along the Sacramento River to land the tribe has owned for 20 years.

There is no firm date for construction. That is in the hands of the federal government, who final go-ahead is required.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs had put the brakes on the off-the-reservation proposal for more than a year. Meanwhile the tribe will complete environmental impact reports—which include public hearings and seeking of public input.

Redding Rancheria CEO Tracy Edwards told Action News Now, “The resorts and casino moving to I-5 will absolutely benefit the community,” Edwards added, “There will be hundreds of jobs, we will continue to use the local vendors so the more business we do and the more business the local vendors will do. We want to bring tourism to this community and we think the casino will help bring tourism to the city.”
