Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers recently signed an agreement allowing the Forest County Potawatomi to offer sports betting at its Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee by the end of the year. The deal extends the current gaming compact to 2061. The Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Office of Indian Gaming and Regulatory Compliance will oversee regulatory compliance and wagering integrity.
Evers expressed appreciation to the state Department of Administration, the tribe and Forest County Potawatomi Chair Ned Daniels Jr. for achieving the agreement “so residents can enjoy sports and other event wagering in our state while supporting the tribe’s economic growth.”
Daniels said, “We appreciate Governor Evers and his administration working with us in a government-to-government manner to provide our tribe with the tools it needs to compete in the marketplace while also providing us with the business certainty we need to continue our investments in Milwaukee and across the state.”
The deal still requires approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior. Evers signed similar compact amendments with the St. Croix Chippewa in July and the Oneida Nation in December.
