Work Begins on Oregon Casino Expansion

Oregon’s Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation have commenced an $85 million expansion to its Wildhorse Resort & Casino. The new work will include a 300-room hotel that will mirror the existing 10-story tower.

The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation have begun an $85 million expansion to its existing Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Mission, Oregon that will include a 10-story hotel tower to match the existing 300-room hotel.

According to tribal spokesman Mary Liberty-Traughber the purpose of the expansion is to make the resort more family-friendly and to keep up with the high demand for hotel rooms. “We are full all the time. We just don’t have any room,” she told the Tri-City Herald.

During the first phase the children’s entertainment center will be expanded to 48,000 square feet. A 24-lane bowling alley will be added and more space for arcade games and an expanded supervised child care center.

Three restaurants will also be added to the existing seven.

The casino opened in 1994. This is the fourth expansion of the casino, which is open 24/7 and offers about 1,200 slots, keno and gaming tables. It employs about 800. The resort also includes an RV park, five screen cinema, golf course, travel plaza and museum.
