Caesars Interactive says its WSOP.com online poker site has taken the lead in the Nevada online market, though no revenue figures were released.
Though analysts have been disappointed by the small size of the state’s online market, Caesars says they feel the site is right on track.
“We have a long-term view of this business,” Bill Rini, head of online poker for WSOP.com, told yogonet.com. “We’re constantly evaluating what we do, and we will continue to make incremental improvements to the product.”
In Nevada, WSOP.com has dealt more than 15 million hands of cash poker with more than $363 million in wagers. The site has also held more than 14,500 tournaments and registered more than 100,000 player accounts.
There are two other online poker sites in Nevada—Ultimate Poker and Real Gaming. According to state regulators, the three sites have collected a combined $950,000 in gaming revenue in July.
Caesars Interactive also operates a WSOP.com site in New Jersey, where it is second in the market behind the combined sites of Party Poker and the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Along with Caesars’ online casino sites in the state, the company has collected $23.9 million in gaming revenue through August.
Caesars officials say they are hopeful that a talked-about compact between the two states to share poker player pools will happen.
WSOP.com in Nevada saw a big jump in play during the live World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The company also had the largest event so far in online poker when it held a satellite to the WSOP Championship that attracted more than 1,200 players.
Rini said WSOP.com is planning to launch several enhancements in the coming months, including a new geolocation tool that verifies a player’s location through Wi-Fi.WSOP.com recently launched in-person deposits and withdrawals at the Rio.
Rini said WSOP.com will roll out on both iOS- and Android-compatible gaming systems this year, as well as a link that allows player to connect their accounts to mobile devices, according to Yogonet.
