Wyoming Approves PointsBet Sportsbook

The commission that regulates sports betting in Wyoming has approved the online operator PointsBet to operate in the Cowboy state.

Wyoming is unique in that it only has online sports betting because it has no land-based casinos. PointsBet becomes the fourth operator to be approved.

The seven-seat Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission had previously approved PointsBet joins FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM for licenses to operate in the state. DraftKings and BetMGM went live in September.

PointsBet hasn’t yet said when it will launch. David Carpenter, project manager for online sports betting and skill games for the commission told CDC Gaming Reports: “I don’t expect it to be a DraftKings situation, where, by the time I walked out of that conference room for the commission meeting], it was already on.” He added, “I expect it pretty soon, but I don’t know if they’re going to make it for the Super Bowl.”
