Legislators in Wyoming last week voted to advance a bill that would increase the responsibilities of the Pari-Mutuel Commission, which currently oversee horse racing.

The joint Travel, Recreation and Cultural Resources Committee voted to support a bill that would widen the panel’s responsibility to include skill games in counties that vote to allow it.

Gaming tribes such as the Northern Arapaho Tribe oppose the bill, saying it would harm tribal gaming. Senator Ogden Driskill told the Casper Star-Tribune that whether or not one support expanded gaming, that a commission is needed to oversee and control it.
